These Kids Are Out of Control
Study, Reflection and Discussion Questions for “These Kids are Out of Control”
By H. Richard Milner IV, Heather B. Cunningham, Lori Delale-O’Connor and Erika Gold Kestenberg
Questions Developed by Jacob Bennett, Vanderbilt University
In consultation with the authors of the book, These Kids are Out of Control,” Jacob Bennett developed the questions below. Bennett, a former classroom teacher and current postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University, read the book and posed questions to encourage deeper reflection for both pre-service and in-service teachers. The questions are designed to spark introspection, discussion, and potential improvements to actual preK -12 classroom practices in the United States and beyond. Readers of the book are invited to engage with the questions before, during, and after reading the book. We encourage educators to use these questions as the basis of conversations that are focused on ways they can transform their practices into those that honor and support the development and learning of all students.
